About PPM (MUSIC PRO AWARDS) 2017 The 3rd edition of the Music Pro Awards was held this year at the Cota Mil Iate Clube, on April 28 and 29. Idealized by the cultural producer Gustavo Ribeiro de Vasconcellos, the event reached its 3rd edition, breaking records. The 53 categories, divided into the Creation, Production and Convergence modalities, received 1309 registrations, almost twice as much as last year. At the end of three voting stages (vote of the registered members in all categories, voting of the public via internet and jury), there were 293 finalists. Between veterans and beginners, recognized by the markets or in search of space, they came from the four corners of Brazil. The MPA also resonated and attracted candidates from other countries such as Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, France and also Israel and South Africa, a country that was represented by the artist Siphokazi, with live performance at the ceremony awards night. The winners were unveiled during the awards ceremony, which also paid tribute to the founders of ABMI (Brazilian Association of Independent Music) Thomas Roth, Benjamim Taubkin and Pena Schmidt, personalities who named the trophies distributed. Despite being targeted at finalists and guests, much of MPA 2017's programming was tapped by the public, free of charge, from a stimulating array of workshops, panels, exhibits of music documentaries, network and talk shows that students, professionals, and music lovers could enjoy.
