Midem Asian Music Forum

Our ambitions for the Asian Music Forum

With skyrocketing levels of growth driven by strong digital penetration and huge demographics, Asia is now the second fastest growing region for recorded music (+11.8% in 2018 – source: IFPI, 2019 Global Music Report). It includes three of the world’s top 10 markets: Japan, South Korea and China.

The “Big Four” music markets – Japan, South Korea, China and India – lead the way for the Asian music industry with greater international reach, a reinforced digital ecosystem, and improved monetization channels thanks to growing uptake of paid subscription models. South East Asian territories also host dynamic music scenes and untapped growth potential.

Midem has created the Midem Asian Forum as a platform to connect Asian music professionals with the rest of the world. The forum aims to highlight creative and business opportunities for both local and international acts.

Objectives: Connecting the Asian Music Industry

  • Connect leading Asian music markets (China, Japan, South Korea and India) with key international players
  • Highlight creative and business opportunities with South East Asian music professionals
  • Encourage artist discovery and export of Asian music artists globally
