  Willard Ahdritz: Midem Summit’s Keynote Speaker

  Kobalt Music Group's Founder & CEO discussed the opportunities and challenges facing music publishers today. He also addressed what business models can best serve songwriters and rights holders in today’s increasingly complex landscape of online music consumption. This session preceded a joint summit organised in association with CISAC and ICMP.
  

• Collective Rights Management in Europe

  

  Collective rights management in Europe is facing new challenges and opportunities in the form of technological developments and changing mode of consumptions. Find out all about the new Directive on collective rights management put forward by the European Commission, and how it affects composers, songwriters, publishers, authors’ societies, users and consumers. This discussion is organized in association with CISAC & ICMP.
  

• CISAC & ICMP join forces on GRD

  

  The GRD (Global Repertoire Database) provided vital data to authors’ societies, music publishers, creators and digital service providers. How far has the GRD come? What are the next stages before its implementation? How will the GRD affect you and everyone in the industry?

• Legal Summit: The legal side of the music business

  

  The Legal Summit, presented in association with IAEL, feature today’s top industry legal experts. This year’s main seminar addressed "The New Economics of the Entertainment Industry: Creative Lawyering as a Growth Catalyst in a Global Market" as well as a "Legal Update for Entertainment & Technology". IAEL lawyers were also available for one-to-one legal consultations.

• Professional Development Credits

  All legal seminars organised by the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers (IAEL) at MIDEM 2013 have continuing professional development/education points accreditation for: The England & Wales SRA, the Dutch and French Bar Associations, and the New York, California and Pennsylvania Bar Associations in the US. Anyone attending the seminars who wishes to claim such points should fill in the attendance forms at the event. Further local confirmation where necessary may be necessary for the relevant accreditation body. IAEL members who would like accreditation for other Bar Associations should contact the IAEL at duncan.calow@dlapiper.com prior to the events.
