M.anifest released his fourth, and most ambitious studio album, “Nowhere Cool” in 2016. That and a single, “god MC” changed prevailing national discourse in Ghanaian popular music, putting content at the center of discussions. In “Nowhere Cool”, M.anifest continues to pay homage to his Ghanaian upbringing as he philosophizes on lessons learned after years spent away from home. The album showcases his extensive range, creating an instant classic for Hip Hop heads everywhere. Gorillaz Damon Albarn says of Nowhere Cool, “I’ve always loved what M.anifest is saying and this record is no exception. He’s a brilliant lyricist.” M.anifest began his professional musical career in the Twin Cities, Minnesota where he spent a decade (2001 - 2011) cutting his musical teeth. There, he earned a Best Songwriter accolade (City Pages, 2008). Upon his return to Ghana, M.anifest cemented his reputation as one of the continent’s best. He was on the historic Africa Express mutlti-city UK train tour in 2012 and in 2013 he earned Best Rapper and Best Hip-Hop Song awards at the Ghana Music Awards. By 2014, M.anifest was on a major tour of several countries in Europe and South America with British musical royalty, Damon Albarn. M.anifest is comfortable crossing boundaries and collaborating across genres. His impressive list of collaborators includes Erykah Badu, Femi Kuti, Tony Allen & Brymo (Nigeria), Highlife legend A.B Crentsil (Ghana), Tumi, Kwesta & Proverb (South Africa), Fatoumata Diawara (Mali), and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (U.S).
