For its upcoming edition, MIDEM is launching a new event called MIDEM Talent Only, dedicated to the discovery and development of artists in the context of today’s music industry. MIDEM Talent Only will comprise conferences, concerts and networking events, and will run from 27 to 30 January. The 42nd MIDEM international music market takes place in Cannes from 27 to 31 January 2008.

“The changes underway within the music industry have radically transformed the relationship between artists and the executives who discover and develop them. An artist’s career today can be driven across multiple platforms, so nurturing the creative side is more than ever the cornerstone of the industry’s economy,” notes Dominique Leguern, Director of MIDEM. “Through MIDEM Talent Only, executives will now be able to learn more about the latest trends, meet some of the top specialists in the profession and discover the talents of tomorrow, all in the framework of a single event.”

MIDEM Talent Only is aimed at all industry professionals who have direct contact with artists: artistic directors, managers, booking agents, promoters, etc.

From 27 to 30 January, 20 bands and artists hand-picked from across the globe will perform on stage as part of MIDEM Talent Only. To host the event, MIDEM has a new venue, the “Magic Mirrors” marquee on the Croisette in front of the Palais des Festivals. The selection of artists for this event is being made via the web site of the American on-line artistic promotion company Sonicbids and runs until 31 October.
