Recent MIDEMs have offered delegates chances at stardom with the ever-popular listening sessions - onsite auditions for major video games, films and TV shows - often with tangible results: UK rock band Motorcity Daredevils, for example, were featured in a recent “Tony Hawk’s” videogame having won 2007’s Activision Listening Session. This year, MIDEM again featured three different opportunities to get your music sync’ed with major titles…

All Listening Sessions took place in the Palais’ Auditorium K, Level 4

Grey/Pantene Listening Session (January 29, 10.30)
Josh Rabinowitz, music director for US advertising agency Grey and its client Pantene, evaluated submissions before MIDEM and created a top 20 playlist. Submissions were accepted on behalf of Pantene (a P&G brand) for 2008 campaign consideration in North America and potentially beyond.

Zync Listening Session (January 29, 14.30)
Hollywood sync agency and MIDEM Listening Session regular Zync this year brought Stephanie Diaz Matos, one of the world’s most influential and far-reaching music supervisors, as she works not only on TV shows (Lost, Six Degrees) but also in advertisements (Motorola, Levis, Axe) and films (Broken English, by Zoe Cassavetes; Redacted, by Brian de Palma...). Zync and MIDEM enabled delegates to pitch their tune to Diaz Matos, explaining why they think it is best suited to TV, ads or film!
Activision Guitar Hero Listening Session (January 30, 14.30)
This session offered delegates a rare chance to become a part of one of the most successful video game franchises in recent times. “Guitar Hero 3” sold 4 million copies in the two weeks following its US release last October alone! Naturally, the knock-on sales potential for artists included in each game’s song line-up is immense. But be warned: guitar-heavy tracks only will be considered! Pre-show, submissions were accepted online via Activision’s ftp.

On January 30, Activision’s worldwide executive of music, Tim Riley, was joined by a jury of industry professionals to judge the twenty finalists selected from all of the session’s submissions. Two hours later, the lucky winner was revealed: The Answer's 'Never too late'.
