At MIDEM 2008, Talent Only hosted 30 concerts in new seafront venue the Orange Magic Mirrors (pop/rock), the Carlton hotel and the Palais des Festivals (classical & jazz).

The Orange Magic Mirrors enables you to meet with professionals and network while enjoying light refreshment; indeed, all Talent Only concerts take place both day and night (12.00-14.00 and 19.00-23.00 for pop/rock, 10.30-01.00 for classical/jazz).

There is no better opportunity to discover rising classical, jazz and pop/rock artists!

Lunchtime pop/rock highlights include Finnish singer-songwriter Astrid Swan (January 27); Anglo-Canadian band Dragonette and the winners of French magazine Les Inrockuptibles' CQFD talent initiative (January 28); the UK’s Gemma Ray and Canada’s Pascale Picard Band (both January 29)

  • January 27
    Norwegian folk-rock singer Jake Ziah; reputed Finnish rock act 22-Pistepirkko; the UK’s This Is Radio Freedom; and youthful Danish “indielectrock” collective Duné
  • January 28: The Orange Stage
    Onstage was Tahiti Boy, a French purveyor of classic pop ballads; then compatriots Gush, a folk-rock foursome; then two finalists of Orange’s UK new talent initiative, mobileAct unsigned: Hijak Oscar and The Bad Robots 
  • January 29: The Sonicbids Stage
    The Sonicbids Stage welcomes leftfield crooner Troy Von Balthazar; Phoebe Killdeer and the Short Straws (Australia); Bristol (UK) indie rock band Chikinki; and The Black and White Years, a US band produced by the Talking Heads’ Jerry Harrison.
  • January 30
    Modern jazz artist Aronas and Drugs, a funk project including Parliment/Funkadelic members, no less!

All day Classical/Jazz highlights: Swedish pianists Peter & Patrik Jablonksi and Slovenian pianist Bojan Gorisek (January 29); Solstice Records’ Diego Tosi and French soprano Olivia Doray (January 30); renowned jazz pianist Paddy Milner; up-and-coming trumpetist Ibrahim Maalouf (January 28); and promising French saxophonist Geraldine Laurent (January 29).
