  • Rolf Budde: 1956-2018

We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Prof. Dr. Rolf Budde. The international music world has lost a dear colleague and friend. Rolf Budde was a successful music publisher and a visionary, outspoken champion of the music industry. He was instrumental in bringing the first German delegation to Midem, where he was a prominent figure in Midem’s community through the years. Rolf had great passion for music, fine arts and culture. For Midem’s 30th anniversary in 1996, Rolf brought an exhibition of German painter Max Liebermann to the Malmaison museum in Cannes. He received the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand at Midem in 2011. Rolf was always a true friend of Midem and, as a member of its Advisory Board, his insights and open exchanges were precious. On behalf of the entire Midem team and its global community, our thoughts are with Rolf’s wife and children.
